One of the first initiatives of Danish Comprehensive Cancer Center (DCCC) in 2017 was to assign an annual amount to support establishment of national, interdisciplinary environments and networks as well as to develop interdisciplinary qualifying initiatives.

The first call was in September 2017, and it resulted in 32 applications for a total amount of funding of DKK 5.4 million. DCCC chose to support 20 exciting national and interdisciplinary projects and initiatives.

”The applications were of high quality and we were proud to be able to support 20 activities all contributing to the further strengthening of cancer research and development in Denmark”, says Anne Bukh, Chairman of the DCCC Steering Committee.

It seems that the call shed light on a current need and the Steering Committee has decided to make a new call in 2018 with a total amount for funding of DKK 5 million.

Applications documenting a collaboration across the country and professional disciplines are welcome. The choice to make a new call in 2018 is a conscious choice. Kristian Helin, member of the Steering Committee is very happy about this decision.

”We wish for the research environments to see the DCCC call as an opportunity. This bottom-up approach makes room for needs and ideas to come forward and provides a valuable insight into the ongoing initiatives across Denmark and across disciplines”, says Kristian Helin.
