The purpose of the new National Research Centre for Treatment Guided by cancer DNA in the blood is to develop and to introduce methods for diagnostics, treatment and follow-up by using blood samples measuring the circulating tumor DNA in the blood.

The promising results within tumor ctDNA analysis will be tested in large clinical studies and examined in different cancer diseases. Head of Centre is Professor Claus Lindbjerg Andersen and Professor Lars Dyrskjøt Andersen from Aarhus University and Aarhus University Hospital.

Research in improving survival and treatment of childhood cancer
Cancer is the cause of one fifth of all childhood deaths for children above one year. Most of the children being cured are dealing with physical and psychological late effects. The National Research Centre for Childhood Cancer has the purpose to improve the survival of children with cancer significantly, to reduce treatment side effects and to improve the children's quality of life.

The research centre is under coordination of the Department of Children and Adolescents, Rigshospitalet and managed by Professor and Consultant Kjeld Schmiegelow.

The centres will be established in January 2020.

Now including the two new centres, ten national research centres for cancer have been established in Denmark.
