Grant received in 2023.

DCCC has funded 192.000 DKK to the initiative.

In Denmark, approximately 1,600 young adults aged 18-39 are diagnosed with cancer each year. Both international and Danish research have documented that this smaller group of cancer patients face complex challenges and have specific needs during and after cancer treatment. The combination of being in life-altering phase and having cancer causes complex challenges requiring a multidisciplinary approach to research.

Even though local research is conducted in Denmark on young adult cancer, a national research collaboration is needed to create a formal platform focused on addressing the challenges these young adults experience. Therefore, a group of clinicians and researchers in the field of cancer aim to establish a new network focused on research for individuals diagnosed with cancer in this age group. Ultimately, the vision is to integrate the network's knowledge and experiences with other networks addressing this target group, such as the Danish Psycho-Oncology Cooperative Group (DPOC).

The network intends to initiate several activities in the next two years. The purpose is to identify existing research projects on cancer in young adults, expand members' research networks, and discuss opportunities for future research collaborations across the country.

The group behind the application expects the network to contribute to knowledge sharing as well as advancement and improvement of research on and with young adults undergoing cancer treatment. The network is supported by DMCG.dk and the initiative "Ungkræft" (Young Cancer) under Danish Cancer Society.

Events
Netværksmøde 30.-31. oktober 2023

Multidisciplinary organisation
As the network spans across specialties and cancer types, it is not anchored in a Danish Multidisciplinary Cancer Group (DMCG.dk). The network is anchored at the Department of Oncology, Rigshospitalet.
