Grant received in 2022

DCCC has funded 190.000 DKK to the project.

Experimental cancer surgery is still performed only sporadically in clinical protocols, and in that case only includes one form of cancer.

The aim of the network is to create a forum to start a discussion on how to establish a national framework and platform for experimental cancer surgey. Additionally the aim is to examine, whether techniques that are performed within one cancer type also be applied on other forms of cancer – across different Danish Multidisciplinary Cancer Groups and regions.

The meetings will focus on topics related to surgical skills and training of new cancer surgeons, experimental cancer surgery and implementation of new surgical techniques. This includes new surgical techniques such as imaging, 3D modelling and AI-powered solutions, as well as improved surgical palliation for patients with incurable cancer.

At follow-up meetings, all protocols will be reviewed and adjusted to ensure national feasibility and implementation of generic outcome measures.
