Received grant in 2018

The aim of this scientific experiment is to explore the effect of structured training programs related to operable cardia cancer. More specific the aim is to explore how structured training programs before and after operation can improve the patients' health profiles and survival as well as reducing postoperative complications and inpatient stays. The project will establish collaboration between the major university hospitals in Denmark and requires optimisation and especially standardisation of the pre-, per- and postoperative courses related to the multidisciplinary treatment of cardia cancer.

DCCC has given the national, multidisciplinary investigator initiated study funding for specifically study preparation. Subsequently, the project stakeholders have been able get financial funding to complete and see the study through. A structured training program with such size and such inclusion of municipality health centres isn't seen before. Further, delivery of a standardised intervention and collection of data is part of the project. The results are expected to be available in 2023.
