DCCC has funded 200,000 DKK to the project

Patients with metastatic cancer are considered incurable. However, some have limited numbers of metastases (oligo metastases). The recent introduction of effective systemic therapies, e.g. immune therapy, and technological advances enabling precise and effective radiotherapy, give hope that ablative therapy of metastases may lead to increased survival. The OLIGO project will offer ablative treatment for patients with oligometastatic disease across cancer diagnoses. We will prospectively collect data on treatment, safety and disease development.

The project will demand a lot of coordination and preparation. Meetings across the Danish Multidisciplinary Cancer Groups, writing of a scientific protocol incl. translational research, building of a scientific database and negotiation of legal collaboration contracts between departments.
