Grant received in 2022

DCCC has funded 97.000 DKK to the project.

Despite detailed national guidelines, patients are treated differently at the 4 centers that treat advanced ovarian cancer. There are large differences in the proportion of who are offered primary and interval surgery as well as no surgery. At the same time, there is an increasing number of patients across the country who do not undergo surgery, which is against international guidelines.

This project will focus on existing practice, knowledge and evidence at a boarding school with participation across the country in order to achieve a more uniform selection and treatment. This is done to ultimately improve survival for patients with advanced ovarian cancer.

A thorough statistical study has recently been carried out on the basis of data from the Danish Gynecological Cancer Database, which investigated whether conditions such as age, comorbidity, surgical treatment and treatment with PARP inhibitors can explain the described differences in survival. These analyzes have not been able to unambiguously point to an explanatory factor.
