Our vision is that all Danish cancer patients have access to the highest-quality, research-based care across diagnostics, treatment and survivorship care.
DCCC is a national research collaboration dedicated to advancing cancer research and care. We strengthen collaboration across sectors and across basic, translational, and clinical research, epidemiology, and daily healthcare practice.
By facilitating faster and more systematic sharing of knowledge and interventions across regions and institutions, we help accelerate the translation of research into implementation within the healthcare system.
Objectives
Our work to support optimal conditions for cancer research and treatment is structured around four objectives:
- Strengthen national collaboration across research domains and sectors
- Promote faster implementation of research findings, ensuring that new knowledge, methods, and interventions are shared more quickly and systematically across the country and across sectors
- Enhance and harmonise the quality of diagnostics, treatment and survivorship care.
- Attract external research funding and specialised expertise.
A strong national collaboration within DCCC is central to ensuring high and consistent quality in cancer research and care.
Background and governance
DCCC was established in 2017 by the Danish Ministry of Health and Senior Citizens and Danish Regions as part of the national Cancer Plan IV. With Cancer Plan V, DCCC’s remit was extended to include research and development activities in the primary healthcare sector.
Through the Implementation Agreement on Cancer Plan V (from 2026 onwards), the Government, Danish Regions and KL agree that there is an increased need to support research and development in the field of cancer within the primary care sector.
The parties have therefore agreed to establish a nationwide collaboration on research and development in the primary care sector, effective from January 2026, with the involvement of relevant stakeholders.

DCCC involves and cooperates with relevant stakeholders including the Danish Health Authorities, regions, hospitals, universities and organisations.
