DCCC has funded 200.000 DKK to the project.

Survival after childhood cancer now exceeds 85%, yet a substantial proportion of survivors develop late effects with significant implications for long-term health, functional capacity, and quality of life. Given their long life expectancy, children, adolescents, and young adults treated for cancer require systematic, risk-adapted, and lifelong follow-up care.

The National Network for Late Effects after Childhood Cancer aims to strengthen the coordination of research, professional knowledge sharing and development activities relating to late effects in children, adolescents and young adults who have had cancer. Through national meetings and ongoing collaboration, the network will serve as a national, interdisciplinary forum for research, development and knowledge sharing on late effects after childhood cancer.

DCCC’s support will be used to establish and consolidate the network’s framework for research-related development, professional consensus and national knowledge sharing. Within this framework, the network will, among other things, initiate and strengthen joint research and development projects.

The expected professional benefit is a stronger national foundation for follow-up care for children, adolescents and young adults treated for cancer, with less variation in practice, greater interdisciplinarity and more coherent patient pathways.
