Received grant in 2025

DCCC has funded 86,400 DKK to the project.

This project will organise a symposium for healthcare professionals to enhance collaboration and knowledge sharing in prehabilitation. The event will provide updates on the latest research, highlight insights from existing programmes, and encourage evidence-based implementation. The aim is to establish a more standardised prehabilitation framework in Denmark while facilitating the integration of effective interventions into clinical practice.

The symposium will bring together leading experts, clinicians, and decision-makers, including internationally recognised researchers such as Daniel Santa Mina from the University of Toronto. The programme will focus on:

  • The latest research findings
  • The integration of artificial intelligence in treatment pathways
  • The role of onco-geriatrics in prehabilitation
  • The patient perspective on prehabilitation

To extend the symposium’s impact, the organising team will share presentations in professional forums, encouraging discussion and knowledge exchange. Additionally, they will facilitate ongoing dissemination through newsletters, opinion articles, and webinars.

Prehabilitation is a key focus in Cancer Plan V, highlighting the need for a unified understanding of its clinical value and impact on patient pathways. This symposium aims to provide healthcare professionals with evidence-based strategies and practical tools to enhance prehabilitation initiatives in their own practice. Additionally, it will provide insights into optimising the organisation of prehabilitation across sectors and disciplines.

The event will support the implementation of recommendations from Cancer Plan V, showing how prehabilitation can be adapted to both local and national healthcare settings. Furthermore, the symposium will serve as a platform for strengthening professional networks and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, ultimately fostering progress in prehabilitation care.

You can now register for the symposium taking place on 7 April 2025.

Multidisciplinary organisation

The symposium is organised by the Danish Society for Geriatric Oncology, COMPAS, and the Danish Society for Oncological and Palliative Physiotherapy. As prehabilitation is relevant across multiple DMCGs, the project is not anchored to a specific DMCG.
