DCCC has funded 200,000 DKK to the project

The prognosis for patients with multiple myeloma (MM) has improved markedly over the past two decades due to improved treatment options. However, patients with MM report impaired quality of life (QoL) and evidence based interventions to improve QoL are lacking.

In 2017, Danish Myeloma Study Group initiated the national longitudinal survey ’Quality of life in Danish multiple myeloma patients’. Inclusion of 685 patients terminated by the end of 2021. Each included patient have reported QoL 12 times during 2 years follow-up and the last data are now enrolling.

With this dataset, we will be able to identify QoL domains and time points where a targeted multidisciplinary intervention could improve QoL for patients with MM. In order to gain this valuable knowledge the QoL dataset needs to be combined with data from registries, scientifically examined, analysed and discussed.

Preparation for this work will be the focus of the two Ph.D. students during their 3 months period of pre-PhD.
