Three well-established DCCC-affiliated national and interdisciplinary networks receive funding

The Danish Psycho-Oncology Coorporative Group (DPOC) is a national, interdisciplinary, and independent network for health professionals, researchers, and patient representatives with an interest in psycho-oncology. 

The network aims to promote knowledge, practice, and research in psycho-oncological support for cancer patients and their relatives. 

DPOC advocates for equitable healthcare, ensuring that psycho-oncological support is accessible to all cancer patients, regardless of residence, cancer type, or treatment location. 

The network organises annual seminars and meetings focused on current topics. 

In the coming years, DPOC will focus on two key areas: 

1. Supporting the implementation of national clinical guidelines on late effects, including recommendations on psychological sequelae 

1. Initiating a national research project to map psycho-oncology services across cancer specialties and identify inequalities in access, scope, and responsibility 

DCCC has funded 180,000 DKK to support the continuation and further development of DPOC’s activities.

The network is part of the Danish national infrastructure for personalised medicine and serves as a national, interdisciplinary platform focused on ensuring consistent national standards for the analysis and interpretation of comprehensive genomic data in cancer treatment for Danish patients. 

The network aims to develop and strengthen collaboration with relevant stakeholders to ensure that its activities are coordinated with, and integrated into, other national initiatives. 

Planned activities include annual workshops and topic-specific meetings. The network also aims to explore the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in variant interpretation. A dedicated working group will be established to develop a study protocol and apply for funding to investigate the use of AI in variant interpretation and in linking annotated variants to treatment strategies. 

The network builds on a previous DCCC-supported initiative launched in 2017, focused on harmonising somatic variant interpretation in the treatment of refractory cancer. 

DCCC has funded 200,000 DKK to the network for the continued development of its activities.

As a national and interdisciplinary network, DCCC Radiotherapy aims to help maintain Denmark’s strong position in radiotherapy research - ultimately to the benefit of patients. 

DCCC Radiotherapy currently serves as a national platform for research and knowledge exchange within the field of radiotherapy. Since the establishment of the National Research Centre in 2018, relevant stakeholders from radiotherapy departments and universities have been engaged in organising research and network activities. A wide range of professional groups participate, including radiobiologists, physicists, clinicians, nurses, computer scientists, and others, with clear integration of the disease-specific DMCGs. 

The National Research Centre has achieved definite results, including new research, the initiation of national clinical studies, and the implementation of treatment advances and technological solutions that benefit a growing number of patients. In addition, the Centre has established unique interdisciplinary and national networking opportunities, especially for early-career researchers and clinicians. 

The network continues to revolve around its working groups, which organise annual network meetings, workshops, and group-specific activities. Future priorities include supporting patient involvement through patient-reported outcomes (PROs), shared decision-making, and active participation in research design. The network also aims to promote greater patient participation in clinical trials, strengthen involvement of early-career researchers, and enhance engagement with clinical departments and leadership. 

DCCC has funded 200,000 DKK to support DCCC Radiotherapy’s continued development as a national, interdisciplinary network.
