Grant received in 2024.

DCCC has funded 200,000 DKK to the initiative.

This initiative aims to reach a new level in the radiation treatment of patients with prostate cancer. By using advanced imaging diagnostics and modern precision radiation therapy equipment, the goal is to enhance healing possibilities by increasing the radiation dose directly to the prostate cancer node (focal boost) and reducing the number of required radiation treatments (hypofractionation).

The aim of this initiative is to conduct a national randomized study with 1,000 men to assess the effectiveness of focal boost and hypofractionation. The project is particularly relevant for the approximately 300 Danish men who receive radiation therapy for high-risk prostate cancer annually and face a recurrence risk of 30-40%.

Founding from DCCC will be allocated to compensate researchers for developing the study protocol, drafting grant applications, and covering expenses related to meetings within the research group.

Multidisciplinary organization
The members of the project group are involved in the DAPROCA Radiotherapy Group and represent a broad range of Danish centers treating prostate cancer. The project originates from the DCCC-supported Multidisciplinary Network for Focal Therapy of Prostate Cancer.
