Funding from DCCC’s open and targeted calls supports the preparation of two national, multidisciplinary investigator-initiated cancer studies, a national seminar on increasing cancer screening participation, and the continuation of the Danish Thymoma Interest Group.
DCCC’s open call supports three initiatives: the preparation of a national study to strengthen the evidence base for treatment decisions in non-metastatic kidney cancer; the preparation of a clinical trial investigating faecal microbiota transplantation as a treatment for a severe complication following stem cell transplantation in haematological malignancies; and the organisation of a national seminar to enhance knowledge sharing on initiatives to increase participation in Danish cancer screening programmes.
Funding from DCCC’s open call is provided as ‘seed money’ for initiatives that support the development of new research projects, strengthen national collaboration, and build a stronger foundation for future cancer research and development.
DCCC’s targeted call supports the Danish Thymoma Interest Group (DATMIG), a national network established in 2019 with funding from DCCC. Thymic cancer is a rare disease, and advancing research in this field depends on strong national collaboration and knowledge sharing. Independent national studies are difficult to conduct due to the low number of patients, and the network plays a key role in facilitating such research. DATMIG brings together expertise across oncology, neurology, infectious diseases, pathology, haematology, radiology, and thoracic surgery.
The network has received DKK 200,000 to strengthen national collaboration in research and treatment and to support the development of international partnerships
